Movie: Shrek the Third
Director: Chris Miller, Raman Hui
Actors: Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, Cameron Diaz, Antonio Banderas, Julie Andrews, Rupert Everett, Justin Timberlake

2007, the summer of the sequels; Spidey 3, Pirates 3, Bourne 3 and now Shrek 3… well, the official title is Shrek the Third. The characters are once again voiced by Mike Myers (Shrek), Eddie Murphy (Donkey), Cameron Diaz (Princess Fiona), Antonio Banderas (Puss In Boots), Rupert Everett (Prince Charming) and the new member, megastar Justin Timberlake as Artie.

Shrek becomes the follow-up to the King of Far, Far Away but our green monster doesn't want all these responsibilities. So Shrek and his two pals, Donkey and Puss, sets off on a quest to find the other possible heir to the throne, teenager Artie. It becomes a pretty tough challenge to convince the medieval high school outcast. Prince Charming sees a window of opportunity to organize a violent coup d'etat during Shrek's absence.

To be honest, I'm not always in for a sequel. Two Shrek films were more than enough. Don't get me wrong, the first two flicks were hilarious, but I wasn't waiting for a third one. Maybe this state of mind was the right one, 'cause Shrek the Third became a very pleasant surprise! Just like the previous films, they once again bring a different take on the classic fairy tales and even go beyond. The writers manage to stay fresh and original for the third time, bringing a hilarious plot and humor that feels more suited for an older audience. The film is extremely fast-paced without slowing down, only for a few little moments, which are needed to make the characters more, well, human.
Of course, the film is just wonderful to look at. The stunning animation is even richer than the previous one. The kick-ass rock songs form an unique combination with the animation (weird looking characters in a fairy-tale forest and the sounds of rock classic 'Baraccuda', go figure, but it works!)
Shrek the Third is hilarious and very entertaining right up to the end! I hate to say it, but I'm quietly looking forward to another Shrek sequel...

Shrek stays fresh for the third time!
