Remy loves to cook. He dares to dream the impossible dream of becoming a gourmet chef in a five-star restaurant. Opportunity knocks, Remy ends up in the restaurant of his favorite chef, Auguste Gusteau. But there's a small problem, Remy is a rat, a filthy little creature that isn't welcome in a kitchen! The rat finds a partner, Linguini, the restaurant's garbage boy, who's about to be fired. They come up with a plan so Linguini can keep his job and Remy can create the finest food of Paris.
The cast of Ratatouille includes comedian Patton Oswalt who voices Remy. Linguini comes to life by the voice of Lou Romano, one of Pixar's animators. Iam Holm is the evil chef Skinner and Peter O'Toole stars as the critic Anton Ego. Pixar's lucky charm, John Ratzenberger, is also back as the voice of butler Mustafa. Ratzenberger, internationally known as Cliff from Cheers, pops up in almost every Pixar flick since Toy Story.
The actors' performances and computer generated images smoothly blend together in this very original story full of slapstick and perfect comedic timing, something that's pretty unique for an animated feature. Brad Bird, director of The Iron Giant and Pixar's The Incredibles, pushes the envelope with Ratatouille. The brilliant 'cinematography' sucks you right in, making Ratatouille a computer animation that feels like a live-action movie. The amazing color palette, incredible depth, Paris like you've never seen before and fantastic character designs erases the line that separates animation from film. Just like The Incredibles, Brad Bird gives the pixel-characters a heart. There are tons of other ingredients that help make this flick wonderfully tasteful, but one thing's for sure, Ratatouille is one of Pixar's best flicks ever!
