Will Turner (Orlando Bloom), Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley) and Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush) embark on a quest to free Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp), who is trapped in Davy Jones' (Bill Nighy) locker. The Flying Dutchman, Jones' ghost ship, is now under command of The East India Company who is hunting down the pirates.
Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, the concluding sequel to Dead Men's Chest, opens strong with the introduction of Chow Yun-Fat as the Chinese pirate Sao Feng. Followed by a breathtaking and spectacular journey to find Captain Jack. The third film also offers more than just nice visuals, a big chunk of the film revolves around lots of conspiracies, in which becomes clear that the main characters each have their own agenda and no one can be trusted. But it all results a bit in a blurry mess that makes you wonder if the movie also has an end. It takes a while before the finale kicks in. Just like Dead Men's Chest, At World's End suffers from a long dragging runtime... but when the climactic battle 'finally' begins, it'll absolutely blow you away, what a finale! Director Gore Verbinski goes full speed ahead and uses everything the pirate genre has to offer.
Besides the gorgeous production designs and amazing visual effects, the acting is also top-notch. Its great to see Rush back as Barbossa, Depp once again steals the show and look out for the cool cameo of Rolling Stone's Keith Richards (Johnny Depp based his character on the rocker).
Though the ride is a bit too long, it sure is worth the money; Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End sometimes surpasses Dead Men's Chest, resulting in a thrilling first-rate adventure flick.
