The cast of Ocean's 11 and Ocean's 12 are back for a third big heist flick. For the record, here are the actors; Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Matt Damon, Elliott Gould, Eddie Jemison, Don Cheadle, Shaobo Qin, Casey Affleck, Scott Caan, Bernie Mac and veteran Carl Reiner. New cast members are Al Pacino as bad guy Willie Bank and Ellen Barkin as his right hand Abigail Sponder.
I'm a big fan of the Ocean's films. The great cast, the chemistry between the actors, Steven Soderbergh's style and of course the perfectly planned heist.
Ocean's 13 is set, once again, in gambling city of the world, Las Vegas, but this time it doesn't revolve around stealing the big money, the motivator of Ocean's club is good ol' vengeance! Reuben (Elliot Gould) is being framed by his business partner Willie Bank and ends up in the hospital. Bank didn't bet on Reuben's friends, 'cause Ocean's men strike back when Bank is most vulnerable, during the opening of his newest and biggest casino, The Bank.
The vengeance theme helps Ocean's 13 to stay original. The fast-paced film delivers a brilliant plan to set things straight and break the powerful Bank, perfectly played by Al Pacino. The movie doesn't rely on the big stars like Clooney, Damon and Pitt but, just like the previous films, it's all about friendship and each character form an important role to make the plan successful. Though this movie is the most accessible for a broad audience, Steven Soderbergh still brings a big Hollywood production with an arthouse-like look. The great cast, the wonderful shots, swinging music and the hilarious story with nice twists, results in a highly entertaining summer spectacle.
