Chuck (Adam Sandler) and Larry (Kevin James) are the pride of their fire station. Chuck enjoys his single life and is a real womanizer. Widower Larry has got other stuff to worry about and that is to protect his family. Bureaucratic rules make it impossible for him to name his two kids as his life insurance beneficiaries, unless he finds a partner… and Chuck still owes Larry a big favor!
I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry is a typical Adam Sandler flick. Brainless humor and lots of gay-jokes that will not be appreciated by some of you. To be honest, you've got to see this one with the guys, lots of beer and enjoy Jessica Biel's amazing 'performance'. The flick is something for the die hard fans, and that's me included, 'cause it's got Sandler written all over it. Lots of inside jokes and lots of Sandler's buddies, Rob Schneider, Nic Turturro, Allen Covert, Blake Clark, Jonathan Loughran, Peter Dante, friends who appear in almost every Sandler flick. The rest of the cast is pretty impressive, we've got Steve Buscemi as Clinton Fitzer who investigates if Chuck and Larry are a real gay couple. Ving Rhames is hilarious as the tough firefighter Duncan who finally comes out of the closet. Dan Aykroyd is wonderful as Captain Tucker and the legendary Richard Chamberlain also pops up.
James and Sandler form a great couple (no pun intended) with an okay chemistry, but the humor sometimes feels a bit off. Director Dennis Dugan, who also helmed Sandler's Happy Gilmore and Big Daddy, doesn't deliver Sandler's best comedy but, hey, the Sandler fans don't care, 'cause you're gonna have a fun time anyway! Advice for the rest of the moviegoers, check it out when you're in the right mood.
